Attracting hundreds of people from all over the country, these events employ the magnificent scenery, inns, and restaurants of Camden as a “campus,” and the Camden Opera House its gem in the center. This rollercoaster of a show takes you on a journey, from sheer joy and celebration of the movement arts to heartfelt messages where dancers address serious topics such as mental health awareness and our warming planet. Dancers celebrate true hip hop culture, spicy Latin jazz, and heart-moving contemporary dancing that will comfort the soul and invite you in to transform grit into grace before the night is over.

Choreographed, directed and produced by longtime Camden resident Kea Tesseyman who finds a way to lean into the grit and discover the grace as it unfolds throughout the movements and storytelling unique to her style of show-creation. In her 22nd year teaching dance, Tesseyman leads kids into the light to experience the joy of performance, teens to the stage to use their voices and adults to the floor to move you. Your support is even more critical during rapidly changing times, when communication is paramount.

The Box Office has Listen receiver and earplugs, as well as a couple of headphones and lanyard loops for those with T-coil capable hearing aids. These devices may be obtained from the box office, to be returned at the end of the event. SoundCheck shows also are livestreamed on the opera house’s Facebook page at no charge, thanks to donations to the Community Arts Fund.
